This is your opportunity to climb into and fly away in a truly classic airplane, a 1946 Ercoupe 415-C. All you have to do is enter our sweepstakes for your chance to win — and know that your donation goes to support EAA’s mission of sharing The Spirit of Aviation.
This classic airplane has been completely and lovingly restored to its current immaculate condition. The Ercoupe was disassembled and rebuilt by EAA’s own aircraft maintenance experts, with every component cleaned and repaired or replaced, before being freshly painted in an updated blue and white paint scheme. The four-cylinder, 85-hp horizontally opposed Continental C-85 has been completely overhauled to like-new condition, and now incorporates a SureFly electronic ignition system. The airplane also incorporates numerous other enhancements, including a newly fabricated instrument panel and upgraded landing gear for smoother operation and lower maintenance. You’ll find a full suite of VFR gauges and avionics in the cockpit, and the airplane also includes ADS-B out, thanks to a UAvionix Tail Beacon system.
Ercoupes were first produced in 1940, and were designed for two things — simplicity and fun. They’re docile cruisers with great visibility, and are difficult to stall and, thanks to the interconnected rudders and ailerons, are virtually impossible to spin. Ercoupes have a dedicated and supportive following, and, once you fly one, you’ll see why.
The Ercoupe qualifies as a light-sport aircraft that can be flown by anyone with a sport or private pilot certificate or higher. Not a pilot yet? See EAA.org/LearnToFly to find out how you can.
